8 years

Last Monday was our 8 year anniversary. I can't believe it's been 8 years already! But at the same time it feels like it's been forever!

We celebrated by staying one night at the Zermatt in Midway the friday before. That was the first time we left Kenadie overnight. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We saw a few little girls that were around Kenadie's age there and that's when I missed her a lot. Anyway, we went on a sleigh ride around the Homestead, ate a Seafood buffet at Schneitter's, and sat in the hot tub. The next day we at breakfast ate Matty's Bistro, played pool, then came home and saw a movie. It was a great weekend; we really needed some time to ourselves.
Some things I remember about our wedding day...

I froze my butt off.
Bule left me at the temple. After we took pictures and changed into our clothes to go home and get ready for the luncheon, I couldn't find him anywhere. Good job, babe.

We ate really good food for lunch.

I was really tired before the reception even started.

But it was a beautiful day and am thankful to have such a great husband who took me to the temple!

Seeing Santa

Yesterday we went to see Santa. I knew Kenadie wouldn't like him because she's scared of everything. The second I put her on his lap, she reached for me and started crying. Bule only got one picture. This one....
The store we were at got a better one, you can at least see her face, but it's still not that great. They gave us a print out of it so I don't have it on my computer to upload.
I'm glad to know that at least half the kids in the world are scared of Santa too, and that their parents have pictures of their kids crying on his lap!

Ahh, the Dentist

I love how everytime I go to the dentist (and I do go every 6 months. That is why I have prerfect check-ups every time, thank you very much!) the hygienist asks me questions when my mouth is wide open and I have a sharp instrument in there. Not sure how they expect me to answer. But I do my best and say, "ahabbl i isia ahal aya soao whoaoaoa ahalal aruhu uh."

My Birthday

This is what my birthday consisted of:

Aunt Flow
Arthritis
Awesome dinner at The Cheescake Factory

The older I get, the less exciting my birthday's are. But that's ok. Why do I want to celebrate me getting older?

Happy 1st Birthday Kenadie!!

It's hard to believe that one short year ago, this sweet little girl came down from Heaven to be my daughter. Can't same the same (short) about labor, though. Why don't you have a seat and listen to the long story of how Kenadie came to earth.

My due date was November 15th. At my doctors appt on the 7th, I had him strip my membranes hoping something would happen because I was SOOOOOOOO ready to have this baby out. Early Saturday morning (the 8th), around 2:30 am, I woke up having really terrible pains in my stomach. I wasn't sure if it was contractions but then figured it had to be. After a while, I woke Bule up to tell him what was going on and we timed the contractions. They were close enough for me to decide it was time to go to the hospital. We got there around 4:30 or so. I checked in, got dressed, got hooked up and they "checked" me. They said I was only dilated to a one so they would leave me there and come back in an hour and see if anything was different. I was still the same an hour later so they sent me home. We got home around 6:30 and tried to go back to sleep. My mom was throwing me a baby shower that day so I had to get some rest before I had to be up for that. While I was in bed I was thinking there was no way I can have the baby today, mom's giving me a shower and I can't miss it; she'll be so mad! About 7, I felt a weird pop kind of feeling in my lower stomach. I got up and went to the bathroom and sure enough, I was leaking everywhere. My water broke!! I was mad I was at home when that happened. We just came from the hospital and now had to go back so soon.

So we arrived at the hospital, again, around 8 am. They put me in the labor and delivery room. I remember getting undressed and getting into the gown. I was so nervous, not really believing this was actually happening. I get all hooked up and all that fun stuff and was just laying there waiting for something to happen. We decided it was a good idea to start calling our family to tell them the exciting news. I called my parents and told them. They were really excited but my mom had to call everyone who was invited to the shower and tell them NEVER MIND. A few hours later they showed up at the hospital and played the waiting game with me. Bule called his parents and told his dad, "we're having a baby today." His dad didn't believe him because Bule had joked with him once before. But Bule finally convinced him it was the real. The contractions were really painful and I didn't want to be hurting anymore so around 11 I got an epidural. Best thing ever. So all day long, everyone just sat there and we talked and waited, and talked and waited. I wasn't progressing one bit. They finally gave me some pitossin to get my contractions going stronger. Kenadie didn't like that and her heart rate dropped big time. The nurses came rushing in and gave me Tributaline (sp?) to stop all labor. They also gave me oxygen. Her heart rate became normal again and they said everything was just fine. I knew it was ok, but it still freaked me out and I was shaking so bad and started crying. Thank goodness for a wonderful husband and dad who hold the priesthood. They gave me a blessing of comfort and I calmed right down. After that, they decided to give me small doses of Pitossin, bits at a time, to get things moving cuz nothing was happening! That time, it went well. Finally, at 11 pm I was dilated to a 10 and could start pushing. I pushed for an hour and a half with no real progress. Kenadie just wasn't ready to come. All of a sudden, without warning, snip snip. The doctor needed some help if he was getting this child out. She still wouldn't budge. So he used the vacuum extractor and that worked. She was born at 12:51 am Sunday morning. She wasn't breathing that well so they had to give her oxygen then she was doing just fine. Bule and I were so happy to finally meet our baby, the most beautiful little girl ever!!

(I told you this wasn't a short story!)

HALLOWEEN!

This was Kenadie's first Halloween and she had pretty fun. Friday night, the 30th, we went to the Legacy Center where they had a lot of activities going on. They had trick-or-treating, a haunted house, games, food, and a movie. There wasn't much Kenadie could do since she is still young, but we just had to show up and see what it was like. It was a madhouse! There were so many people there it wasn't even funny. But we saw Kaitlyn and Liz there. And then I met up with my sister and her family. Kenadie dressed up as a chicken this year. We nick-named her Chicken Little when she was a baby and this costume was so fitting!

Kenadie before we left, trying on her costume.

Saturday night we went trick-or-treating. Well, really just around to a few houses to say hi. We didn't even plan to take her around but last minute we decided to. We used a Wal-Mart plastic bag as her candy bag. We had to visit Laura, Ruben and Seth. Seth and Kenadie love to play together. Seth was such a cute vampire!

After we got home, Kaitlyn came over to trick-or-treat. Kenadie only wanted her candy.

And getting undressed. She was SO glad to be out of that thing!

I had to throw this one in here. The week before Halloween, we went to a party. We dressed up as a Pink Lady and T-Bird.
This year was pretty fun, especially with a child. I just might get into it a little more each year.

First Steps

Last night Kenadie took her first steps without mom and dad holding her hands. She was so excited that she could do it by herself. I kept trying to get her to do it some more but she kept falling down. We'll keep trying and hopefully get it on video next time. And that, of course, will be another blog post!

Tutu's

I made some tutu's last week for Kenadie and her cousin, McKinley who is 4 weeks older than her. I thought it would be cute for them to get their pictures taken together in them. Haven't got their pictures done yet but here are the tutu's. I think they turned out very cute! And they were super easy to make.

Spilt Milk

So, I had to pick up a few things at the store today.
I walked in the house with 2 gallons of milk in one hand and a huge box of diapers in the other.
I dropped one of the gallons of milk and it busted open and milk spilled everywhere in my front entry way.
I stood there in shock for a few seconds not knowing what the heck I should do.
Get some grahm crackers? Cereal? Oreos?
I opted for huge towels.
After the towels were sopping wet, I threw them outside and wiped up the rest of the mess with paper towels.
Then mopped.
Needless to say, that was disgusting!

10 months

Kenadie is just 2 months away from turning 1. I can't believe it! I say this everyday...time goes by so fast!

Kenadie has quite the personality. She makes me laugh all the time. She does the funniest things at the most random times. Sometimes she'll hit her head or her cheeks. When she hits her cheeks, she makes the O face with her mouth and looks almost like Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone.

She's a pure genius! She can say quite a few words - Mama, Dada, book, duck(more like du) baby, uh-oh, ball(more like ba). She will point to her picture on the wall or a baby in a magazine and say baby. And she points to her books on the bookshelf and says book. I don't think a lot of 10 month old babies can do that! Oh yeah, she can say NO really well too, complete with the finger shaking! She'll crawl over to something that I've told her NO to before, and she'll say, "No, No, No No". And then she continues on and plays with what she's not suppose to!

She has been crawling like crazy and getting into everything. She loves it when you chase her. She'll book it down the hall, stop and look back to see where you are. She waits till you're close enough to tickle her then she'll take off again. She walks really well holding on to furniture. But just last night she started standing by herself. She saw how excited we were when she did that so she stood up over and over and over again, smiling as she fell. I'm sure in the next little while, after she's more comfortable standing alone, she'll take her first steps. Oh what a proud mom I'll be when that happens!

She just figured out how to open the box of wipes. We have the box that pops open. She sticks out her little finger and pushes down and it pops up and then she pulls out all the wipes one at at time. I've found a pile of wipes in her room a few times. Now I have to keep them on the top shelf so that doesn't keep happening.

She hates drinking her bottles. It's the biggest fight with her. But she loves eating food. She's pretty good at eating her baby food but she absolutely loves big people food. The other day, I had just finished feeding her so I started eating my lunch - leftover mashed potatoes with cheese. I put a small amount on the fork and started blowing on it. She saw me doing that and got the biggest smile on her face knowing that bite was for her. She LOVES mashed potatoes. Takes after her mom. She'll eat pretty much anything.

She loves to clap. She'll do it at the most random times. But she always does it whenever I say, "Yeay" or "Good girl". She's so proud of herself when she does something well, she just has to clap! If she hears someone laugh, she'll sometimes start laughing too. But it sounds more like a courtesy laugh.

Here are a few pics from the last little while.
