Kenadie has such an eclectic personality. She could be crying, smiling and laughing all in one breath. I love it!

Brother Love

Let me tell you a story. There once (and still is) a boy named Brad. He was born into this world 26 years ago with a mild case of Cerebral Palsy. He grew up in a loving home and he adored his big sister Becky and she adored him back. They were best friends. During his teenage years he developed cervical dystonia; a neurological movement disorder that causes abnormal posture. However, he had a normal, awesome childhood and teen years. Then he grew up to be a smarty pants and attended college. He decided to go to USU and major in Biochemistry. Because he was so smart and awesome, he received scholarships and grants to pay for all of his college dues. He’s researched things like DNA, RNA, proteins, and many other things that I can’t begin to say, let alone spell. He has decided to further his education by getting his PhD in Biochemistry. He applied to Duke, Harvard, UCLA, UC San Diego, University of North Carolina, University of Pittsburgh, and State University of New York in Buffalo, and has interviewed at all of them except Harvard and UCLA. Today, he is waiting to hear if he’s been accepted to any of their programs. They’d be fools not to have him, absolute fools!! He’s also been invited to Washington DC in May to present his research to The National Council of Undergraduate Research. What an honor! He’s so smart and there’s so much in that brain of his, I’m surprised his head isn’t bigger than it is. He’s done so much in his short 26 years, living with CP and Cervical Dystonia but he’s done it with a positive attitude and never a complaint. There was one time when someone asked Becky to think of someone who had to overcome a challenge and how they handled it. Becky couldn’t think anyone. A few days later, this person gave a talk about overcoming challenges and they mentioned Brad and his history and all that he’s accomplished. Becky was a little surprised (because when thinking of challenges, Brad doesn't come to mind) and touched. The way Brad sails through life, you’d never notice his handicap or think of it as a challenge for him. Although Brad is Becky’s little brother, he’s so big in many ways that she looks up to him with so much love, respect, and admiration. She’s his biggest fan. I could go on and on about this incredible boy, but I don’t think there’s enough space in the computer to fit it all. I love you, Brad!

I welcome myself to the world of blogging!

Well, I finally did it. I created a blog for our family. I think it will be a fun way to journal our fun moments of life. Speaking of life, here is the center of mine - Kenadie. She made her entrance into this world on November 9th, 2008. She was a very hard newborn with colic. But now that she's older, she's over it and a pretty happy baby. I love it that she gets so excited to see me in the mornings or anytime during the day. Could it be the fact that I have breasts? Was that inappropriate to say? Oh well.
