She's crafty...

...or not so much.

I do not have one ounce of craftiness in my bones. But my mom sure does!

We went to Logan a few weeks ago to pick up my brother from school. On our way up there, we had to stop at a quilt shop in Brigham City. She loves to quilt and makes the most beautiful quilts for us. It's amazing what she can do. Anyway, as we were looking around the shop, I spotted a really cute quilted changing pad and wipes holder thing. See, I don't even know the right lingo for this kind of stuff; I call it a thing. It has two pockets - one to hold the changing pad (that was quilted) and one to hold the wipes, then it folds up. Then I saw a quilted bag (like a diaper bag) in the same material. I LOVED them both and got really excited. Somehow, I got the urge to make them and asked my mom to help me. She was kind enough to buy all the material for it and there was A LOT of material; I think there were seven or more different patterns. I had no idea quilting can be so expensive. Maybe I'm not crafty because things cost so much and I don't like to spend money. Or it could be that I don't have the patience. Or both. Back to the story. Last Friday, I went to her house and we started our "thing" and bag quilting project. We cut out some of the material and had to sew them together. Now, I don't sew. I think I've used a sewing machine once in my life when I felt the urge to make a pillow when I was younger. So when I sat at the sewing machine, I was very intimidated by it. Then my mom shows me what to do and it makes me feel even more intimidated because she sews all the time and can do it with her eyes closed. I could not sew straight and my mom had to un-pick a few spots and re-sew it. Fun stuff. So here we are cutting and sewing away. This is part of the inside and part of the outside of the bag. We aren't done yet, but should be in the next week or two. I can only go to her house once a week and can't work all day cuz of sweet little Kenadie (did you catch the sarcasm there? She's not so sweet when I want to put her down and work.). So when we have the finished product, I'll do another post. They will be super cute!!
